How recording custom drum tracks works for you - The devil is in the details!
How do I get in touch?
Contact me here to let me know what service you require ie: Custom drum track, programming, loop or groove.
What happens next?
I'll respond very quickly to discuss the finer details about your requirements. If you require a custom drum track then sending a mix of the song and a reference track can also be useful to me at this stage. If all you require is a loop or a groove then providing me with information on the required tempo and a production style will be a good starting point. If your project has been recorded in Pro Tools I may ask that you send me the session file so that I can simply record my drums straight into it however this is not a requirement. If you've been working to a pre recorded drum track or midi sequenced drum part then please send it too so that I can get an idea of what you've been using.
Fantastic, so you do your thing then?
What drum and microphone setup will you be using, I'm a geek and want to know?
Interesting, welcome to the club! Well depending on the song I may use 3 mics or I may use 11. My mic selection and drum/cymbal selection will depend totally upon the song and production but i'll discuss this with you in our early talks about what kind of sound you're going for. Of course if you are a gear fan I can happily provide a list of what mics, preamps and drums I use and if time permits i'll take some photos for you as well.
Ok so say I love what you've done, what then?
Speaking of Payment, how do I pay you?
At the moment I accept payment only via Paypal but i'm looking into other alternative as well.
In the unlikely event that I don't like what you've done what happens?
Well i'm glad you asked. One point that I need to make is that when we're initially discussing your requirements for the song i'll be extremely grateful if you can go into as much detail as possible about what you'd like from the drum part (that is unless you want me to just put my slant on it completely). I do my recording from a commercial studio which has an hourly hire cost that I factor into my prices. This makes doing revisions more costly for the client as I am obliged to charge them for this extra studio time. With clear communication from the outset however there is no reason why you will not be 100% happy with the parts that I initially record. I haven't had a refusal yet and regardless i'll work to ensure that you are 100% happy with your service.
I'm a complete novice and haven't really understood any of this?
Fear not, simply drop me an email and let me know what you're hoping to do and i'll guide you through the rest of the process in a way that's completely easy. I understand that it can be quite daunting to undertake a process like this especially for the first time so I'll do my best to make sure you know what's what.
